Organization Context
According to the National Economic and Social Development Plan Goal 3(1972-1973),Teachers’ College Surat Thani became Suratthani Rajabhat University on 15th June 2004 by King Rama 9 who signed the royal title on 9th June 2004 and it was announced on 14th June 2004. This brought all Teachers’ Colleges became Rajabhat Universities until nowadays. Also, each Rajabhat University has its own independence and legal entity under the budget of Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education.
Development Strategy
SRU has its main goal to drive the university in order to serve the local community sustainability and the nation. It produces desirable graduates who can think , can do and can compete potentially. Moreover, in research, it has been accepted to support the knowledge for being the center of art and culture in the local community. Also, it adhere to good governance, participation and will continue its past work from SRU between 2018-2020, consisting of 6 strategic issues as followed:

Strategy 3 To convey the knowledge to the community strength
Strategy 4 To maintain the arts and culture

- To find the facts in order to become an excellent academic based on the local intellectual, Thai intellectual and international intellectual.
- To produce the graduates with knowledge and moral.
- To enhance the knowledge, the understanding value, the consciousness and the pride in local culture and its nation.
- To learn and to enhance the strength of community leaders, religion leaders and local politicians so that they have a democracy conscious mind, morals, ethics and competence in managing community and local development for common benefits.
- To enhance the strength of the profession of teaching and develop teachers and educational personnel to have good quality suitable for being a high professional.
- To collaborate, help and support each other at the university, community, local government organization and other organizations both at home and abroad for local development.
- To study and seek ways to develop local and modern technology, suitable for living and occupation of the local people including the approach to promote management maintenance and also balanced and sustainable use of natural resources and the environment.

Applying sufficiency economy philosophy is considered an important way to manage the university in order to follow implication of being a true Rajabhat university as follows: Suratthani Rajabhat university is a leading Rajabhat university that brings the royal aspirations and philosophy of the sufficiency economy as a model for undertaking a mission to become an intellectual power for local and national development through the participation process under the provision of opportunities for everyone thoroughly and equality.
